Toyota brings Apple Maps EV routing to its newest models

Toyota has announced that its latest battery electric vehicles (BEVs) will come equipped with Apple Maps EV routing, a feature that uses real-time battery information to help drivers plan charging stops along their route.

The new feature is expected to be available on all 2023 and newer BEV models, including the Toyota bZ4X, which is being replaced by the bZ. Apple Maps will take into account factors such as battery performance and elevation changes when estimating battery percentages on arrival and charging times.

To enable this feature, automakers must work with Apple to access the car's battery information. This is a significant development for electric vehicle owners who have previously relied on third-party apps to find compatible chargers.

However, it appears that the integration of Apple Maps EV routing is still relatively limited, with only a handful of vehicles currently compatible, including the Ford Mustang Mach-E, Tesla Model X, and Porsche Taycan. The rollout is expected to expand in the coming months.

Toyota has also announced that its upcoming 2026 model, the bZ, will have access to over 25,000 charging locations through the Tesla Supercharger network. The new vehicle will feature the NACS charging standard, which was first developed by Tesla before being made available for the entire industry.

I'm so over this whole Apple Maps EV routing thing 🙄... like who needs some big corporation telling them how to charge their car? It's just another way for tech giants to make a buck off us consumers, you know? And what's up with only a handful of cars being compatible in the first place? It's gonna be a wild goose chase trying to find charging stations that work with your ride. Not to mention the extra data that Toyota and Apple are collecting on us... sounds like Big Brother is watching our charging habits 🕵️‍♂️. I swear, this whole EV thing is just another step towards tech companies owning our lives.

I don't know if I'm excited or worried about Apple taking control of our electric vehicles' routing info 🤔. It's one thing to have a reliable map app, but another to rely on just one company for navigation and charging stops. What happens when they change their plans or take the service offline? Not to mention, how secure is all that data being shared with Apple anyway? 🤷‍♂️ Can't we stick with third-party apps that don't have such tight ties to a single corporation? I'm keeping an eye on this one and waiting for more info before popping the champagne cork 🥂.

Just got this news about Toyota's latest BEVs coming with Apple Maps EV routing and I'm super stoked! 🚀💻 It's about time we had a more seamless experience planning our electric car trips. The fact that they're working with Apple to access the car's battery info is a big win for EV owners who have been using third-party apps to find chargers. But, gotta say, I'm a bit surprised it's still pretty limited right now 🤔... I mean, I know some of my friends own Ford Mustang Mach-Es and Tesla Model Xs, but it seems like we're waiting on other manufacturers to catch up. Still, the fact that the new bZ model will have access to over 25k charging locations through the Tesla Supercharger network is a game-changer 🚗💸 Can't wait to see how this all plays out in the coming months! #EVcharging #TeslaSupercharger #Toyota #AppleMaps

Wow 🚗💻 so now we got all major car brands workin together with apple to make EV owners life easier, cant wait to see how this change our daily drive 😊 and 25k charging locations on that new toyota bZ model is insane 💸

🤔 I'm kinda stoked that Apple Maps is getting into EV routing, but it feels a bit like they're playing catch-up with existing third-party apps. I mean, wouldn't it've been better if they included it in iOS from the start? Now, we gotta wait for all these car manufacturers to integrate their systems and make it work... 🚗💻

This is a total game changer for EV owners 🚀💸. I mean think about it, no more guessing when you're gonna run out of juice on a long road trip, just plug into an Apple Maps-approved charger and you're good to go ⏰. But at the same time, this raises some questions about accessibility and competition in the EV market. Are we gonna see other companies start to integrate their own mapping systems? And what about the NACS standard - is Tesla really pushing this as a way to keep its charging network exclusive? 🤔 It's a bold move by Toyota to partner with Apple, but also a bit of a risk. Will it pay off for consumers in the long run? Only time will tell 🕰️.

OMG, I'm so done with these car makers thinking they're innovators 🙄. Like, Apple Maps EV routing is still super limited, right? Only a few cars are compatible and it's only going to get better in the coming months... yeah, okay 💁‍♀️. And what's up with the Tesla Supercharger network being exclusive to Toyota's new car model? Can't we just have seamless charging across all platforms already? 🚗😩
