The formation of Our Time is a classic case of how politicians use nonprofits to amplify their message and mobilize support... I think it's great that they're prioritizing transparency by publishing donor info online, but at the same time, I'm a bit concerned about the potential for "pay-to-play" or undue influence in New York City politics. It's easy to get caught up in the enthusiasm of a new campaign, but we need to make sure that Our Time is serving the city's interests rather than just its allies. One thing they could do is provide more clarity on their decision-making processes and how donors are vetted...
just saw this news and i'm low-key worried about these new nonprofit orgs flooding the system . Our Time is like a super-organized zombie apocalypse of volunteering and lobbying, but what's the real endgame? did some quick research and found out that 70% of nonprofits in NYC have no transparency at all...Our Time claims to be different tho . looks like they're getting $1.5M from a super-rich donor but hey, at least Jeremy Freeman says he's not accepting "pay-to-play" bribes . statistics-wise, NYC voters are more likely to support universal childcare than oppose it (67% support vs 21% opposed). maybe Our Time can actually make a difference
