NYC launches emergency food effort as SNAP benefits halt amid ongoing federal shutdown

I'm getting pretty worried about all these ppl loosing access to SNAP benefits 🤕 it's like, how r they supposed 2 feed themselves? I think Mayor Eric Adams is doing a good job by calling on businesses & philanthropies 2 help out, but we gotta make sure these orgs r equipped 2 handle the demand 💸. It's crazy that Food Bank For NYC saw an 87% increase in attendees over the wknd 🤯, and nearly half of those pantries were struggling w/ resources. We need 2 get more support 4 these ppl ASAP 👍

OMG, this is so not right 🤕🍴... over 1.8 million ppl in NYC are struggling to put food on their plates & now they're losing federal aid? That's just heartbreaking 😭. The city's trying to step up, but it's sad that businesses/philanthropies need to be called upon to fill the gap 🤝. Can't we just have a stable gov't already?! 🙄

I'm so inspired by all these orgs coming together 2 help out 💕 - City Harvest, Food Bank for NYC, and Met Council r doing amazing work! Let's keep supporting them & our vulnerable neighbors in need 🌟

man this is so heartbreaking 🤕, i mean 1.8 million ppl losing access to food bennies? that's crazy 💥 what can we do?! some ppl r saying it's on the feds but i think we gotta step up too 🙌 especially with all these businesses & philanthropies having the $$$ they should be able to help out more 🤑 not to mention the community members who are already doing so much 💖 like that one org Met Council which got a major boost 🎉 hope they can keep up with the demand, cuz if we dont everyone's gonna go hungry 😔
