Chicago is gearing up to experience a blast from the past with the inaugural Forever Mine Festival set to take place in Union Park on May 23 and 24. The event promises to transport attendees back to the early 2000s with its nostalgic R&B and house music lineup.
Headlining acts include iconic vocalists Keyshia Cole, Monica, and Kelly Rowland, alongside DJ superstars Kaytranada and Chicago's own DJ Ca$h Era. But that's not all - Shaggy will also take to the stage, ensuring a healthy dose of 2000s nostalgia for the crowds.
The festival is being hosted by Chicago-based DJ Pharris, who promises a night where "R&B and house fall in love." And what better way to showcase this than through a predominantly local "Warehouse" stage celebrating Chicago's dance and house music culture? Grammy-nominated producer Terry Hunter will lead the charge on this platform, along with other notable DJs like Lady D, DJ Slugo, John Simmons, Hillery Banks, Syko, and Kind Inesse.
But Forever Mine isn't just about the music - local artists will be featured in various installations throughout the festival grounds. Additionally, attendees can look forward to a silent disco featuring some of Chicago's top DJs, including All the Way Kay, Evie the Cool, Bonita Appleblunt, Cut Cuz, and Timmy V.
Co-owners Fernando Nieto and Miguel Torres expressed their vision for the festival: "Chicago gave the world house music, and this city has always been where house and R&B intersect." They aim to create a crowd that can sing along to anthems from both eras, showcasing the timeless appeal of these genres.
The festival will take place on the former site of Pitchfork Music Festival, which was canceled last year due to concerns over international artist visas. This marks a return to an event space in Chicago, with Forever Mine coinciding with SueΓ±os Music Festival in Grant Park - one of the country's largest Latin music festivals.
Tickets for the festival will go on sale this Friday, and all ages are welcome. With its unique blend of R&B, house, and local talent, Forever Mine promises to be an unforgettable experience for Chicago music fans.
