Can you believe it? The gov is so broke they have to beg for cash from themselves! I mean, who needs budget meetings when you can just use your own emergency funds to feed people struggling? And honestly, how's 6 billion gonna cut it when you got 42 million mouths to feed? The judge was like "nope, you gotta pay up" and now the admin is all like "oh noes, we can't!" It's like they forgot that there's a thing called "contingency funds"... yeah, that's what they're calling it . Anyway, good on NY for taking on the feds and making sure families don't go hungry.
OMG, can you believe what's going down?! A federal judge is basically telling the Trump admin that they gotta pay up for SNAP benefits even though they're in shutdown mode! It's like, how are we supposed to survive without our food aid? I mean, the $6 billion contingency fund isn't even close to covering all those families who rely on it. This is a huge win for NY AG Letitia James and other states who were fighting for this. The admin tried saying they couldn't issue benefits due to the shutdown but the judge was like "nope" now they gotta figure out how to make it work. Fingers crossed that these benefits get paid ASAP!
this is so messed up the fact that millions of people are struggling to survive and the government is still trying to find ways to weasel out of paying their benefits is just infuriating and what's even more frustrating is that they're not even acknowledging the severity of the situation... the $6 billion in contingency dollars is a tiny drop in the ocean compared to the 42 million Americans who rely on SNAP benefits and it's heartbreaking to think about all these families having to go without food because of this but at least there's hope that Judge Talwani's ruling will bring some much-needed relief... fingers crossed!
can't believe the gov is messing with ppl's groceries like that! SNAP is literally a lifeline for so many families who can't afford food otherwise. I'm glad justice is being served & judge Talwani's ruling doesn't give the Trump administration an excuse to just stop paying benefits altogether... that would be a total disaster
so this is what happens when you think you can just shut everything down and not have to pay up like, I get it, shutdowns are stressful but you still gotta do your part especially for people who need those SNAP benefits more than ever food banks will be working overtime anyway and NY state is like "duh we're not gonna let the feds just abandon us"
The whole thing just feels like the gov't is passing the buck . I mean, come on, we've got 42 million people counting on these benefits and they're gonna leave them hanging because of a shutdown? That's not how it works . And now they're saying they need to get creative with contingency funds? Like, what's the point of even having those if you can't use 'em? It's just another example of the gov't being more concerned about appearances than actual help for people in need .
