Joe Schmidt disappointed by England 'gamesmanship' in Wallabies' defeat

Former All Blacks coach Joe Schmidt expressed his disappointment after Australia's 25-7 defeat at the hands of England, citing "gamesmanship" by the English team in their pre-match dealings with referee Nika Amashukeli.

The Australian side was left to lament on questionable calls made against them during the game, particularly a pair of yellow cards awarded for coming into the breakdown illegally.

In response to these incidents, Schmidt maintained that he believed the referee remained impartial throughout, stating that his team had been unfairly penalized and that they were not excessively penalised for side entry.

This was despite the fact that England's coach, Steve Borthwick, reportedly raised several instances of Australia entering rucks from the side in their pre-match meeting with the referee. England refused to confirm if these concerns were accurate but Australia captain Harry Wilson dismissed them as "quite amusing."

omg i dont get why aussies are so salty about it ๐Ÿ˜‚ did they really think england was going to let off easy? i mean, england has been having a pretty solid season so far and this win is a big one for them ๐ŸŽ‰ but seriously, gamesmanship can be super frustrating when you're on the other end of it... like, if you're gonna complain about something in pre-match talks, at least have the guts to say it during the game instead of after ๐Ÿ™„

come on guys ๐Ÿคฏ like seriously what's going on here? joe schmidt is right, gamesmanship at its finest... or should i say worst? ๐Ÿ™„ australia gets hounded by the ref and no one bats an eyelid, but when england does it, suddenly everyone's a victim? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ and dont even get me started on steve borthwick, who's playing referee? ๐Ÿ˜‚ anywayz, refs need to do some serious retraining cuz this is just embarrassing.

lol @ aussies think they can just come at the ref and expect nothin ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. game of rugby, not some video game where you can just rage quit and blame someone else ๐ŸŽฎ. if you're gonna make a complaint, own it and don't try to stir up drama like england did ๐Ÿ™„. personally, i think aussies got served by the refs... that breakdown penalty was straight outta bad sportsmanship 101 ๐Ÿ˜’

omg i cant believe aussie lost again ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ australia needs to work on their breakdown skills lol. joe schmidt is right though, gamesmanship was definitely a thing here. i mean, england knew they had an edge with their rucks from the side and they played it smart. australia kept going in headfirst which is just gonna get u penalized all day. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ also, those yellow cards were pretty harsh on aussie but to be fair, schmidt was still salty about it. steve borthwick's got skills tho for pointing out that side entry stuff before the game ๐Ÿค‘

omg i cant believe aussies got hammered ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ like seriously gamesmanship? that's so not on, england should be ashamed of bringing it up before the game ๐Ÿ™„ i mean if they really thought aussies were doing something wrong why didnt they say anything during the match? or before? its just another excuse to throw shade at their opponents ๐Ÿคก and honestly aussies got robbed by the ref too, those yellow cards were so harsh ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

I gotta say, I'm a bit surprised by how dramatic it's getting between the Australian and English teams ๐Ÿค”. It feels like everyone's taking it too personally - Schmidt and Borthwick are acting like they're playing for the World Cup title instead of just trying to win their respective matches ๐Ÿ†. And let's be real, Nika Amashukeli is gonna do his job as a referee, no matter what team's complaints he hears ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. It's just one game and it's not worth getting too worked up over. Can't we all just appreciate the skill on display out there? ๐Ÿ˜Ž

OMG, I'm so frustrated for Joe Schmidt and the Aussie team ๐Ÿ˜ก! Those yellow cards felt like a total bias against them, and it's crazy that they didn't get more calls in their favor ๐Ÿค”. I mean, if England was that worried about Aussie side entry, shouldn't they've brought it up with the ref before the game? It seems like Australia just got caught out by some dodgy refereeing decisions ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. Schmidt's right to say he thinks the ref remained impartial, though - we all know how hard it is for refs to make calls without getting them wrong ๐Ÿ™„. But still, it's a tough pill to swallow after that result ๐Ÿ˜”. Can't wait to see what happens next in the World Cup! ๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ‘
