Lightweight world champion boxer Gervonta Davis is facing a new lawsuit following fresh allegations of attacking his ex-girlfriend, Courtney Rossel. The civil lawsuit was filed in Miami-Dade County, Florida on Thursday, accusing Davis of battery, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
According to the complaint, Davis attacked Rossel at her place of work on October 27th, just two weeks before he is due to fight YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in an exhibition bout. The lawsuit also alleges that there were "at least" four previous incidents where Davis physically assaulted and choked Rossel.
Rossel is seeking over $50,000 in damages and a jury trial, while Davis' representatives have declined to comment on the matter as it is a legal case.
Fight promoters Most Valuable Promotions issued a statement saying they had begun an investigation after the lawsuit was filed, stating that they "unequivocally condemn any form of violence" and will make a determination on next steps once their review is completed.
This latest allegation comes two months after a domestic violence case against Davis was dropped by another ex-girlfriend. The boxer has also been previously arrested on battery domestic violence charges in February 2020 and December 2022, and served 44 days in jail in 2023 for violating the terms of his house arrest sentence.
Davis is scheduled to face Paul in an exhibition bout in Miami on November 14th.
