just saw this news and I'm freaking out... a former L3Harris cybersecurity exec pleaded guilty to selling trade secrets worth over $1.3 million to a Russian firm 
can you even imagine what kind of damage that could've done? and it's not like he was some random guy, he worked for the US government & its allies on hacking tools 
the thought of our security being compromised like this is just terrifying 
Williams' use of encrypted email accounts under different names is like a masterclass in digital forensics... on the other hand, it's just mind-boggling that this happened at a company that develops hacking tools for us gov and allies 
20 years max, though? feels kinda lenient to me, a former cybersecurity exec at l3 harris trenchant pleading guilty to selling trade secrets to russia 
... that's some serious betrayal of trust 
, especially since he was handling sensitive info for the us government 
. i mean, $1.3 million is a lot of money, but it's not worth risking 20 years in prison and losing your freedom . what really gets me is that this happened while l3 harris trenchant was already under investigation for an alleged leak of its hacking tools ... it just goes to show how serious the consequences are when you steal trade secrets 
.... I mean, Peter Williams is basically a traitor for stealing this much sensitive info from L3 Harris Trenchant, right? Like, shouldn't he be getting a life sentence or something? 
But on the other hand, I guess we gotta feel bad for him because he's got a family and stuff... And it's not like he was just some random hacktivist trying to cause chaos - he had a legit job and all. 
... I mean, who buys and sells vulnerabilities and exploits like it's no big deal? 
It just seems so wrong on so many levels. But at the same time, I guess we gotta acknowledge that there are people out there who would do this kind of thing for cash - even if it is super bad news for national security and all... 
... I mean, who knew our cybersecurity execs were selling out to Russia? It's like, how did this happen right under our noses? And now L3 Harris Trenchant is dealing with an investigation into a leak of their hacking tools... what's next? 
The thing that gets me is that this guy was working for the Australian Signals Directorate and then just suddenly jumped ship to L3 Harris. Did he get cold feet or was it something more? Anyway, glad someone held him accountable, but still, a lot of questions remain unanswered...
