Evolutionary history of stony corals suggests that some could be resilient to climate change

omg i just read about this study and its mind blown 🤯 i mean coral reefs are literally one of the most important ecosystems on our planet but they're basically crumbling due to climate change. it's crazy to think that some corals are actually more resilient than others, like deep-sea ones or whatever. and yeah, these shallow-water corals have been forming symbiotic bonds with algae for ages but at what cost? i guess its just another example of how nature is super complicated 😅 anyway, hopefully scientists can use this info to find ways to protect our coral reefs before it's too late 🌊💦

I'm so concerned about our planet's coral reefs 🌴. I mean, they're already struggling with bleaching and whatnot. Now this study says that even the ones in deeper waters are affected? That's just not good news. I remember when my kids were younger and we took them to the beach for a family vacation. We'd always see these beautiful coral reefs teeming with life. It's heartbreaking to think that those same reefs could be gone or severely damaged because of climate change 🤕. As a parent, it's hard not to worry about the future of our planet and all its creatures. Do we need to make some drastic changes in our daily lives to help mitigate this issue? Should we be eating less meat, using public transport more often... I don't know, but I'm willing to learn and do my part! 🌎

I'm not sure I buy all this info. I mean think about it - we're basically playing with fire here, messing with the delicate balance of coral reefs and microalgae. It's like trying to solve a puzzle blindfolded while standing on a sinking ship 🤯. They say they've found these ancient blueprints for resilience but I'm not convinced. What if this is just another example of us trying to fix the problem after it's already too late? And what about all the other factors that affect coral reefs, like pollution and overfishing? We're not even scratching the surface here 🤔. Let's take a step back and think about the bigger picture before we start making claims about saving these ecosystems 💡

coral reefs are like the canary in the coal mine for our oceans 🐠💔. if we're losing these incredible ecosystems, what's next? i mean, i'm not saying we should just be sitting around twiddling our thumbs, but let's not get too caught up in the 'save the corals' narrative without considering the bigger picture 🌊. have we even considered the costs of preserving shallow-water coral reefs when it means sacrificing deep-sea coral habitats? just something to think about 😐.
