Samsung Galaxy A17 5G review: A respectable and affordable Android option

If you're in the market for a good budget phone and have a limited budget, the Samsung Galaxy A17 5G is a solid option to consider. Priced at just $200, it may seem like too good to be true, but this Android device delivers on several fronts without breaking the bank.

The Galaxy A17 boasts a sturdy build quality that's hard to believe considering its plastic casing. The phone feels substantial in your hand and has a solid weight to it, suggesting that Samsung has managed to make cost savings without sacrificing durability.

One of the standout features of this budget device is its display, which is an impressive 6.7-inch OLED screen with good brightness and a 90Hz refresh rate. This makes browsing the web, watching videos, or playing games a delight.

The phone's cameras are another area where Samsung has done well. Although it doesn't come with three rear cameras as some might expect, its 50MP main camera does produce better images than you'd anticipate at this price point, especially in good lighting conditions. While the low-light performance isn't quite on par with that of more expensive mid-range phones like the Pixel 9a, it's still a respectable effort.

Battery life is also decent for a budget phone, lasting around 23 hours and 8 minutes in our test, which is slightly less than the Pixel 9a but well within the realm of acceptable usage. The phone also supports fast charging at 25 watts, making it quick to top up when you're out and about.

Another notable feature is the presence of a microSD card slot, which allows users to expand storage beyond the initial 128GB limit. This is a rare feature in budget devices these days, so Samsung's inclusion of it as standard is a bonus.

While performance might not be the Galaxy A17's strong suit – it can get a bit laggy when multitasking or switching between heavy apps – this is more than made up for by its overall affordability and lack of significant complaints. It's hard to find major issues with this budget device, which delivers on several fronts without blowing your budget.

If you're willing to stretch beyond the $200 mark, there's an 8GB RAM version available for just a few extra dollars. Otherwise, the Galaxy A17 is a solid option in a crowded budget market that should give you everything you need without causing any financial strain.

Wow 🤩 the fact that Samsung can make such a solid phone at $200 is insane 💸 I mean, it's still not perfect but for that price point you'd expect some major compromises and it seems like Samsung has done alright here 🙌

$200 is still too steep for a "budget" phone 🤯 I mean, what's the value of a device when it comes to freedom? Are we really saying that our worth is tied to the amount of money we can spend on something as fleeting as a smartphone? Newsflash: happiness isn't directly proportional to your bank account.

omg this phone is literally too good to be true for like $200!!! i mean yeah sure it might not have the best performance but 23 hours of battery life? what's not to love?! 🤩 and 6.7 inch OLED screen with 90hz refresh rate? that's insane! i'm so tempted to get one now

OMG u guys I'm so stoked about this phone it's like literally the best value ever $200 for all these sick features 🤩 like a 6.7 inch OLED screen and fast charging is insane! And yeah I was worried it might be super cheap feeling but nope it feels really solid and sturdy too which is a major win imo 💯

I'm also loving that it has an expandable storage slot lol what's wrong with the new gen phones having microSD? 🤔 and the cameras are pretty decent for this price point I mean 50MP main camera isn't bad at all! 🔥

But like I said performance is a bit wonky when multitasking but honestly I'm not sure I care that much 😂 'cause it's still way more affordable than most mid-range phones out there so yeah I'd def recommend this phone to anyone on a budget 🤑

Wow 😎 this Samsung Galaxy A17 5G is like the total deal at $200 🤑 it's got that solid build quality and display that's actually pretty great for the price 👍 90Hz refresh rate? no problem! 🤯 50MP camera? not bad at all considering how cheap it is 💸

I'm not sure about this one, a 6.7-inch OLED screen at $200 sounds too good to be true 🤔... I mean, what's the catch? Is it just a fancy display or is there more to it? The camera's decent performance is a plus, but low-light shots are still gonna struggle. And yeah, the battery life's not bad, but 23 hours and 8 minutes is not exactly mind-blowing 😐. I'm also not sold on the lack of significant complaints - what about software updates or security patches? 🤷‍♂️

omg I'm so down for a phone like this 🤩! $200 for all these amazing features is insane! the 6.7 inch OLED screen is giving me life 💻 and the cameras aren't bad at all 😎 even if it's not a triple cam setup, that 50MP main camera is making some great pics in good lighting. and yeah, battery life is pretty decent too 📊 plus the microSD card slot is such a nice touch 🙌 it's like samsung knew what we want without asking us to break the bank 💸

OMG u gotta check out the new Samsung Galaxy A17 5G!! 🤩 I got scoop on this one and it's a total steal at $200! The build quality is actually really solid for what ur paying, plus the display is insane with that OLED screen and 90Hz refresh rate. Cameras are on point too, especially in good lighting conditions. Battery life is decent and expandable storage is a bonus 📈🎉. Performance might be a bit laggy but honestly who needs that at this price? The only downside is it's not the fastest performer out there, BUT overall it's a solid budget option 👍
