FDNY firefighter died Saturday while responding to Brooklyn blaze

Tragedy struck Brooklyn Saturday evening when an FDNY firefighter succumbed to his injuries while battling an "all-hands fire" in the Kings Highway area. Eleven-year veteran Patrick D. Brady's lifeless body was found after he suffered a medical episode and went into cardiac arrest on the rooftop of 9407 Kings Highway near Brownsville.

The FDNY stated that Brady had been working on the roof when his colleagues rushed to his aid, administering CPR before rushing him to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center where he sadly succumbed to his injuries. "Firefighter Patrick Brady gave his life protecting the city we all love; there is no sacrifice that is more selfless than the actions that took place this evening," Mayor Eric Adams stated in a heart-wrenching tribute, acknowledging the immense loss of a family man and devoted firefighter who had dedicated 11 years of his life to serving the community.

Commissioner Robert S. Tucker also expressed the department's collective grief, stating that Brady's untimely death has left everyone "heartbroken." The FDNY confirmed that Brady is now the 1,163rd member of the department to make the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Tragically, Brady's family ties run deep within the firefighting community. His brothers Jimmy and Brian, as well as cousins and uncles, are also FDNY firefighters, making his loss all the more poignant for the brotherhood and sisterhood he left behind.

As Adams extended his condolences to Brady's wife, Kara, and entire family during this extremely difficult time, it is clear that his passing has sent shockwaves throughout the department. The city will undoubtedly mourn the loss of a true hero who gave his life to protect others.

man... just heard about Patrick D. Brady πŸ˜” he was 11 yrs into his career and had so much more to give πŸ€• FDNY is all about putting lives before their own, it's heart breaking when someone like that goes πŸ’€ can't even imagine how Kara & the rest of his fam must be feeling right now 🀝 the fact that he left behind an entire squad of brothers who are also firefighters makes this loss even harder to swallow πŸ˜” RIP Patrick D. Brady you will never be forgotten πŸ‘Š

πŸ˜” my heart goes out to Kara & all of Patrick's fam. 11 yrs is way too long for any of us, let alone someone as young as 51 🀯. Firefighters are literally putting their lives on the line every single day, I'm in awe of their bravery & selflessness. πŸ™ can't imagine how hard this must be for his colleagues & brotherhood 🀝 RIP Patrick πŸ‘Š

Ugh, can we talk about how broken the FDNY's website is rn? I was trying to pay my respects on their memorial page for firefighter Brady and it kept crashing 😩. And have you tried to RSVP for any of their events? Forget about it! The whole thing is so clunky and unuser-friendly πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. Can't they just get it together and make it easy for people to show some love for the fallen heroes? It's not like we're asking for much, just a simple tribute page that doesn't crash every 5 seconds πŸ’”. And what's up with all the broken links on their social media pages too? It's like they're intentionally trying to distract us from the real issue at hand... the loss of a hero πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ.

πŸ˜” this is just so sad... 11 years on the job and he's already giving his last breath on duty... what's going on, is our fire department really that understaffed? πŸ€” i feel bad for his family and the whole firefighting community... it's like they're losing a brother πŸ‘Š i hope there's more support coming in from the city to help them cope with this tragedy πŸ’•

πŸ˜” just saw this thread and i'm still in shock...my heart goes out to patrick's family esp kara, he was so young & had so much life left ahead of him πŸ€• 11 yrs is a long time but its still crazy that hes gone πŸ’€ the fact that his fam is also part of the FDNY just makes it even harder for them 🀝 im sure we'll be hearing more about patrick's heroism and the impact he had on the community in days to come πŸ‘

man, just saw this news about Patrick D. Brady... such a waste πŸ€•. 11 years of service and it's a tragedy. u feel? the fact that his family is also in the FDNY makes it even more heartbreaking... i mean, how many times can one person be called to serve like that? it's crazy. the city needs more people like him who are willing to put their lives on the line to protect others. πŸ™ my thoughts go out to his family and the entire FDNY community πŸ‘Š

πŸ˜” just thinking about Patrick D. Brady's brave last moments on the job makes me wanna sit down and reflect on my own life. 11 years of service is no joke, and it's heartbreaking that he didn't get to see more of his family grow up. πŸ€• you know what really gets me though? The fact that his brothers and cousins are still out there risking their lives just like him... talk about a bond stronger than blood πŸ’•. we're all going to miss this selfless hero, and it's clear the city is still reeling from the loss πŸŒ†πŸ’”
