Aston Villa consider move for Loftus-Cheek with fears over Kamara knee injury

Aston Villa are exploring a potential transfer move for Chelsea's Ruben Loftus-Cheek as they navigate the absence of key midfielder Boubacar Kamara due to a knee injury that may keep him out for the rest of the season.

Kamara, who has been instrumental in Villa's success this campaign, suffered a major setback when forced off in their FA Cup win at Tottenham earlier this month. The 26-year-old's injury could have significant implications for Villa's title hopes, with captain John McGinn also missing Sunday's defeat to Everton through injury.

Villa are now focusing on finding alternative midfield solutions, and Loftus-Cheek has emerged as a top target. The former Chelsea midfielder, who was recalled to the England squad in September after a six-year absence, had been overlooked by Thomas Tuchel for the recent camp but is thought to be available on loan.

A move for Loftus-Cheek would be seen as a significant coup for Villa, given his experience and quality in midfield. However, it's unclear whether they can afford to make a permanent signing due to their limited financial resources.

The club's interest in Loftus-Cheek comes at a time when Villa are also exploring other transfer options. They are reportedly willing to pursue Conor Gallagher, another England midfielder who has joined Tottenham from Atlético Madrid this month.

Villa are also targeting established strikers after selling Donyell Malen to Roma. Tammy Abraham and Jean-Philippe Mateta, who has informed Crystal Palace that he wants to leave, are among their top targets.

The club is working to terminate the loan of Harvey Elliott, who has been a key player in their recent successes. With Kamara's injury adding to the uncertainty surrounding Villa's squad, it remains to be seen how they will navigate this challenging period ahead.
